Having been shut down throughout the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Capital Fringe Festival has returned to Washington DC! Throughout the duration of the festival, eight days, over 250 theatre artists will perform in 30 different theatre productions. themes within these shows include the climate crisis, our relationship with our bodies, substance abuse, motherhood, the afterlife, marijuana in gentrifying DC, Palestine, cloning, identity, the pandemic, and much more. I am so happy to see the return of theatre festivals and the revitalization of culture and community. There was so much lost during the pandemic and it is relieving in a way to see that it has not been permanently lost. So much of the impact of theatre and arts comes from sharing provocative and emotional work with an audience and I am elated that these artists get to do just that. I am excited to see the increase and return of cultural festivals like these!
