I was due to star in Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella. I found out I was sacked via social media

Summer Strallen | The Guardian: Last Thursday, I was having a wig fitting for the role of the Queen in Cinderella, ready to begin rehearsing next month. The part, which I signed up for six weeks ago, promised a year-long contract – and with it, a rare level of stability.

This is so devastating to hear, and unfortunately not the time I have heard of a case like this. It is so sad that even big shows with a famous title and a big name like Lloyd Webber supporting it still treats their workers with no respect. I am glad that this received this amount of media attention. A lot of people talk about when the corruption in this industry is going to change, and the only way people can be heard about these issues are through media attention. These are the steps it takes for change to happen. It is so absurd to me that a company is allowed to and has power to take away a year of someone's financial stability. How does that not breach any contracts? And the lack of dignity it must take to not even apologize for it is so weird to me. It will forever be a mystery to me why so many American companies, industries, schools, and universities have the audacity to be so disrespectful and frankly inappropriate towards the people that make them possible.
