After reading this article I realized that I am completely unaware of companies outside of the US. Not that I'm very aware of American companies either, but I sometimes forget that there are industries all across the world that deal with entertainment equipment and engineering. I am a little confused about these two companies and what the partnership means but hey I am always up for reading about the way that companies are working together to create better technology. I looked up the companies websites and they both look pretty cool so who knows if I will run across this company again in the future. And after looking up the two companies it makes a little more sense after learning that Brilliant Stages is the UK company that TAIT is partnering with!!! The article doesn’t have enough information if you aren’t aware of the two companies but looking further into them is very interesting. Both companies have some really amazing events associated with them!!!
Similar to Alexa’s experience, I just realized I have very little knowledge of the theatre, entertainment world outside of USA. Which has led me to think about how we as Americans have a very narrow vision of the world and how things happen internationally. Actors Equity Association in the UK, works differently than ours, and I think international knowledge is something missing from a lot of classes in American schools. We tend to think our way is THE way, when in reality other countries have been doing the same exact thing with a different name. Which is what I find so interesting about this merge, like yes, its really cool that a small company from Lititz PA has grown to be a giant in the entertainment industry, but more interesting than that is how both companies seem to be perfectly aligned (according to their CCO’s), have relatively the same experience in the marker, and yet most of us didn’t know about Brilliant.
