Why do so many of these resumes contain a photo of the applicants face? Is that a thing people do? Is that standard in some industries? I’ve never seen a headshot as part of a resume, and I don’t think it really makes sense unless the person in question is a performer. In general, I feel like a lot of this templates have a lot of wasted page space. Obviously you need your resume to be clean looking and not cluttered, but I’m not convinced using large amounts of page space for headers or graphics that don’t provide any additional information about you as an applicant isn’t a good use of space. I know I already struggle to fit all the information I want to fit nicely on the page, and I haven’t even graduated yet. Plus I’m skeptical about how well some of these will look when printed grayscale. Maybe I’m doing it wrong and I should be putting the overall graphic design as a higher priority, I know I could put some time into making my resume more aesthetically pleasing, but I feel like many of these templates would force the person using them to sacrifice content for style. I also realize that the theater world has different expectations when it comes to a resume, so maybe these templates seem odd to me because they just aren’t a format I’m used to.
