The Master Builder
Pittsburgh in the Round: Once more into the past, with a twist. Quantum Theatre’s Kara Boos take us to an adventurous setting via Henrik Ibsen, that master of modernity. The Master Builder, set on the ninth floor of of Two Allegheny Center at Nova Place on the Northside will have you spinning–your head in a good way with its 360-degree view of the city and your mind, psychologically.

Although I don’t know if I will get the chance to see this production before it closes, after reading this, it makes me really proud to be from and live in Pittsburgh. The way this review talked about the production and about Quantum Theatre as a company, was that they are treating it with respect and their experimental work with value. It is a sign that has been coming for a few years now that Pittsburgh’s theatre scene is expanding beyond the Cultural District. I don’t know as much as would like to about Quantum, however it seems like they are making enough right moves to where they want to be going. Quantum is the type of theatre that attracts newcomers to town and to begin creating and producing their own work. Additionally, the production had three CMU related company members (two cast and lighting design) which is always awesome to hear, that current students are working, alumni are getting work, and that faculty are still practicing their craft.
