‘Hamilton’ and Lin-Manuel Miranda Among Pulitzer Prize Winners
WSJ: The accolades for “Hamilton” keep pouring in. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hip-hop-infused Broadway drama about Alexander Hamilton has won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The show has already won a Grammy for best musical theater album, plus multiple Drama Desk awards in 2015, when it was a hot off-Broadway production.

I am continually astounded at how humble and gracious Lin Manuel Miranda is. He is on top of the world, but he is still so down to earth. Regardless of whether or not you like it, Hamilton is one of the most technically perfect musicals ever made. Despite this, and despite the fact that Hamilton is enormously successful, Lin Manuel Miranda continued to be so grateful for everything he receives. Everyone kind of knew Hamilton would win the Pulitzer Prize for drama, but Miranda still acted genuinely surprised and extremely grateful for the recognition. His tweets are especially fantastic. His initial reaction is a god damn Newsies reference. After that, he uses that same hashtag that he's been using since before the show opened on Broadway. The hashtag in and of itself shows his humility, since the story behind it is a woman not knowing what show he actually wrote. And his final third tweet was a whole bunch of gratitude. He deserves everything he has received for this show, since obviously the show is fantastic in every way, but also because he himself is pretty incredible.
