Paul Tazewell's Contemporary Colonial Costume Design
Theatre content from Live Design: The streets of New York may not have been paved with gold, but they were certainly filled with intrigue and opportunity when Alexander Hamilton, a young immigrant from the Caribbean, arrived in the American colonies in 1772. His story, which runs parallel to that of the founding of the United States of America, is the subject of the hottest show on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre this season, Hamilton, which marries history and hip-hop in an extraordinary production that celebrates the birth of a nation.

I've grown to want to see this show more and more because of the hype that it is getting on campus. This article just reminds me how much more I want to watch this show. The fans won't stop singing songs or talking about the show. I also am very curious about all the tech elements in this show. I've heard some things about the set and lighting, but not that much about the costumes. I also want to know how similar it actually is to In the Heights. I've heard some of the songs and they definitely sound pretty similar to the other hip hop musical. I don't know anything about the show so I'm guessing there's a correlation between these two shows, however if there isn't, then why are they so similar? Also, which production members were a part of both hip hop shows? After this article, I need to spend more time looking at what this show is about and what I should expect if I go see it.
