LED Expansion

Signshop:

With each advance in LED technology, these lighting components are illuminating more and more new signage—many for the retrofits of older signs that were incorporating fluorescent or neon lighting.

Opportunities are only limited by the range of LED products, and suppliers have made strides in developing solutions for a range of signage applications.

I'm the odd one out on this one. I can't conform to the use of LEDs. Moving lights are cool, and the ease and preciseness we get with the tools are awesome, but it just is not the same. I know that LED's are more efficient, and the wave of the future. They give us access to so many more colors, and effects, however, no matter the wash I still feel that there is a sense of coolness that doesn't give the same effect as a traditional fixture. Now with so much on moving scenery, and the cinematic nature of theatre, I understand that it would be virtually impossible to light an entire production traditionally, nonetheless I still long for this.
I appreciate much of what this article touches on. Making advancements in signage and things of that nature with LED lights is awesome and very effective. I feel that there is a time and a place for LEDs. I look forward to the advancement of LED technology that will lend itself to producing a softer, warmer, even more natural looking light source.
