10 Best and Innovative Designs From CES 2015

Design Milk: This year’s 2015 Consumer Electronic Show was enormous – in fact, the largest show floor in history – with over 3,600 exhibitors and 2.2 million square feet of exhibitions on display with every sort of technology available vying for the attention of swarms of attendees pouring through the convention center halls. The experience can be a bit overwhelming, with a strong sense of déjà vu while walking halls of companies peddling similarly spec’d or “me too” designs… a lot of filler, not so much killer.

There have been numerous articles over the past several years detailing why the Consumer Electronic Show has been going downhill in terms of exciting new releases and announcing breaking developments. Long story short, companies are choosing to make individual press announcements, mainly over the internet instead of waiting up to a year to launch their product at CES. That being said, it looks like there is still at least some cool stuff coming out of the conference. Honestly, from this article, I was most impressed by the 3d printed fashion wear, the dual compartment oven, and the virtual fitting room. I know both the 3d printed clothing and virtual fitting rooms are ideas that have been kicked around previously, but this is the first time I've seen their implementation be so flawless. And I have never heard of a dual compartment oven with individual temperature control, but that just sounds really darn cool. The article really is pretty spot on in saying that CES has a lot of filler, and not that much "killer", but at the very least, I am quite impressed by these three innovations.
