I have heard of TEDx events, but I was unaware of a TEDxBroadway event. This is event is a wonderful idea because of the specificity of the subject and the narrow audience. Being a member of the youth, it would be great for me to attend this event (even though it is only for grads) because of the wide spread of ideas being addressed and the people that would be there to hear from. I think the title of the event this year is interesting, asking what is the best Broadway can be. I am not sure if this is one of the more important questions to be asking about Broadway, but I think it will definitely lead to interesting discussions about the future of the professional theatrical industry.
This is pretty exciting. TEDxBroadways will be promising and useful to those who go, if not educational to all.
TED has always brought up some of the most interesting people to give talks. It really is amazing how many different things that people can give talks on. I have seem things from #D printing a human organ to converting a carrot into a clarinet.(You should look them up. These are actually pretty neat. The organ prints entirely during the video.) It is simply fantastic what they do here. I hope that they get even more wide spread than they are now, because this organization is possibly the most educational thing to exist. The different branches that it is growing to will definitely just increase the knowledge of the entire world on all different subjects. There was a time when most everyone who studied was a Renaissance Man. They knew all kinds of things and dabbled in many different areas. They were artists, and scientists, and philosophers! They did everything! Maybe we are headed back to that direction!
I really like the idea of a TEDx for theatre to get young artists more involved quicker. The industry can be really hard to make your way into it, and I think these talks would be very helpful to a student like me. Since I'm at college, I'll be out of the game for quite some time, and a lot can happen in a little amount of time. Of course, I can keep up subscriptions to sources such as The Hollywood Reporter and Backstage, but attending this right out of college would be a splendid idea. It would give me an idea of what to expect going into this business, a few hints here and there, but I think most valuable of all, I'd be able to meet people I might wok with very soon.
I find this to be so valuable because even when you're not working on a set or stage, you're an actor. It's you that makes that decision, and why not kickstart your own attention? Two excited, raw, eager, creative minds could create some magnificent material with just a little collaboration, because a lot of keeping yourself focused and excited is to stay busy. So keep yourself busy with what excites you!
