: Everything Changes…Or Does It?

Pro Sound Web: Technology in professional audio (and technology in general) has changed so much and so quickly that it’s become difficult to get up to speed and stay up to date. The learning curve for some aspects of what we do is quite steep and appears to be accelerating.

Yeah, this article definitely rings true for a lot more than just audio world. Sometimes when I'm reading about lighting stuff or working with the equipment in general, I'm just like, "Wait, how did I even learn all this stuff, and how is there like an infinite amount of knowledge I still don't know?" I'm the worst at "memorizing" information or remembering stuff, so sometimes it boggles my mind that I can retain all the various technical details and rules and intricacies of my craft at all! Yet the author does have another more important point. Equipment, protocols, and brands will come and go, but physics and the laws of nature are forever. Having a solid base of knowledge over the deep fundamental concepts of any field will give you a huge leg up when it comes to mastering the new wiz bang device that like just came out and you have to have it but oh god it's so complicated. Anyways, I wonder if people ever run out of memory space in their brain..
