Lucy Kirkwood Wins 2013 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize

Stage Directions: Lucy Kirkwood has won the 2013 Susan Smith Blackburn prize for her play Chimerica. Kirkwood, a U.K. playwright, received a $25,000 prize and a limited-edition Willem de Kooning print. Additionally, Phoebe Waller-Bridge received a special commendation and $5,000 for her play Fleabag. The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize is awarded annually to recognize women from around the world who have written works of outstanding quality for the English-speaking theatre.
