Hawaiian School’s Center Earns Top Architecture Award
sightlines.usitt.org: Seabury Hall Creative Arts Center, a theatre prep-school performing arts center on Maui in Hawaii, will receive USITT's highest architecture award--the Honor Award. Three other venues – the SF Jazz Center and the Bing Concert Hall, both in California, and the Jerome Robbins Theater in New York --will receive Merit Awards for 2014.

This is really cool. I still like architecture and appreciate good architecture. But I'm glad I'm no longer on that path, a lot of people abuse the title of being an architect. I have a few friends that want to be architects who mainly do concert halls. I think there's a whole new feel to them... What I mean is that there should be a whole separate major to be a concert hall architect. My favorite concert hall will always be Carnegie Hall and it's probably because of its history. When they say that you can feel everyone who has ever performed there before you when you stand on the stage, it's true. It's an experience for the performer and the audience. I really like the Bing Concert Hall, it's fun and it seems to flow. I mean, it seems like the acoustics are good, almost as if the building was inspired by how music can make one feel...
This article was really interesting. One of my favorite types of architecture has always been theaters because of the grand spaces that can be created. I have always loved the feeling of walking into a theater house and being enveloped into such a large and beautiful space. I remember the first time I walked into the Pantages, it was an amazing feeling. There is also a lot of other factors to think about when you are building theaters that architects dont have to think about when they are designing other buildings. I have always wondered and been amazed at how architects can create a building and also take into consideration the acoustics.
