Shaw Festival Has Record 2013 Season
Stage Directions: The Shaw Festival had a very good 2013 season! They performed to 71% capacity over the course of their seven-month season (April 3-Nov. 3), a 10% growth over 2012, which resulted in box office revenues of more than $16 million—the highest ticket sales in The Shaw’s history.

I am really glad to hear the Shaw festival is in great condition financially. I went to the festival about two years ago and it was some of the best pieces of theatre I have seen (I really recommend you go if you haven't). Sense I have gone I had a little voice at the back of my head wondering if the festival was surviving doing the recession. Last week there were several articles talking about the economics of the art in the recession, one great article pointed out that although there had been some losses such as the New York Opera Company many other places had reported an increase in their ticket sales. This is just another example showing how the arts are recovering and starting to thrive more. I hope their ticket sales continue to grow from there!
