Theater and Cinema Audio Demands Shape Wireless Mic Usage
www.avnetwork.com: What do the suits in the executive boardrooms and the amateur players in a church performance have in common with the entertainment pros? Plenty, even if they’ll never realize it.
As more corporate boardrooms and houses of worship (HOW) are designed with a theatrical bent, there’s much that the integration world can learn about microphone placement, handling, and setup from theater, cinema, and TV professionals.

I attended a session on corporate audio during this years AES, and I found that a lot of what this article is saying is true. Corporate shows, church shows, and broadway are becoming more similar every day. And each industry has to find ways to adapt its product to the needs of wireless microphones as far as receiver placement, mic placement on the speaker/performer, and where the mixing position is. Live reinforcement has never been easy, especially with the FCC constantly limiting which parts of the frequency spectrum can be used by the entertainment industry,. But hopefully it also means that more knowledge is spreading, and there will be easier crossover between these fields and allow them to learn from each other.
