Center Theatre Group the Big Winner in 2013 Ovation Awards
Stage Directions: On Sunday, Nov. 3, the L.A. Stage Alliance held the 24th annual Ovation Awards at Center Theatre Group’s Kirk Douglas Theatre, and Center Theatre Group was the big winner of the evening with 12 awards total. Their production of Jennifer Haley’s drama The Nether, took home seven trophies, including one for Haley herself, for Best Playwriting for an Original Play. The Mark Taper Forum’s revival of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone won Best Production of a Play in a Larger Theater, while 3-D Theatrical’s revival of Parade won the Best Production of a Musical in a Larger Theater award. At the award ceremony Center Theatre Group also announced the winner of the 2013 Sherwood Award for innovative and adventurous artists, Miranda Wright.
