Pittsburgh Playhouse to Remix Downtown Facades Into New Complex

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The facades of three turn-of-the-century buildings will get new life -- and a new context -- as part of plans to move the Pittsburgh Playhouse from Oakland to Downtown. Point Park University officials said Tuesday that they plan to incorporate the facades of the buildings at 320, 322 and 330 Forbes Ave. into the design of the $53 million playhouse complex and public courtyards that will be part of it.

This is great news for a Pittsburgher like me! I have seen some of Point Park's productions at the Playhouse and in Oakland. And while some shows have been very good, I think it is a good idea for them to move into a new space. I had heard of the relocation earlier, but I did not know it was part of renovating the campus. This is great because Point Park has a very small campus to begin with and creating this new building will add to the campus feel while in a city. It is great to hear that they are going to try and restore the facades of the old buildings. This will keep a lot of the feel that is Pittsburgh for that area. I am really looking forward to see productions there in the upcoming future!
