It's Dumb Easy to Wreck a $20,000 Camera with Just a Couple Lasers
gizmodo.com: Lasers are bad for your eyes, so it shouldn't be a surprise they're bad for cameras too. This clip shows exactly how trivial it is for a laser to pop inside a $20,000 piece of equipment and totally scramble its brains.

Lasers are not things to play around with. They can cause flash blindness, which is the sensation you get after having your picture taken, and depending on the intensity of the laser, it can cause retinal damage and blind you for life. Since camera lenses are becoming more and more like our eyes in capturing images, I could see how it could ruin a camera lens. I'm sure they didn't purposefully shine lasers at this $20,000 camera, but it just teaches everyone to be careful where they point things!
