Review: Black Dance Festival brings compelling choreography to life

TribLIVE: Many kinds of talents were on display Friday night at the uplifting opening performance of the second annual Black Dance Festival at the August Wilson Center, Downtown. Compelling choreography was brought to life with irresistible spirit by the center’s resident ensemble, all to excellent music.

Clearly this reviewer went to the correct dance show and I didn't. I LOVE dance and attended the dance festival after I was excited about going for about a month. When I purchased my tickets online the show description didn't mention anything about being completely different shows at different times/days. I went to the 2 pm show so that I could get a bus home easily and I was a little upset due to the fact that the show I saw was not what I expected. The opening dance was really nice. The concept, choreography and the dancers were young and very talented. However the other pieces were from other smaller community groups and wasn't what I expected.

Basically the main problem is that organisations need to ensure that they provide adequate information online about their shows to their patrons. If each show was different, they should have stated that on the website!!! Yes I was upset!

Neverytheless, the writer seemed to have enjoyed their show!!
