Well looks like I'll be in Vegas for that week! I really like the idea that Cirque is opening up its behind-the-scenes operations to the public to give them a chance to see how the magic of their shows happens. Cirque is such a unique company with such an original vision and concept that almost no one can replicate, so I think that it'll be great to give people an inside look to that world. Especially since some of their technology was developed conceptually years before it could even be invented, I'm sure patrons of this event are in for a treat.

Well, according to the production calendar its sad that I cant go. But, if you dont take this offer up you're crazy. Backstage tours, info sessions, and demonstrations galore. Im not quite sure how the seats will be, but its a pretty great price, even for the 7 show VIP. Being able to see how such an amazing producing company functions from show to show could be a once in a lifetime event for some individuals. Not only can it open doors for theatre professionals, but this will excite theatre goers. Cirque is opening its door for everyone to see a little magic exposed, so go explore!

oh to being a broke college student, what i would give to get to do this. This sounds like a fantastic chance to get to see what makes cirque tick. I thankfully got to see zarkanna while it was in new york before it was to move to las vegas. That show blew me away for its simplicity in the performers and relatively no automation. One life goal, to work for cirque

It kind of amazes me at how popular these events are for people who are not in the industry. I know I and others who work in theatre and entertainment really enjoy these kinds of opportunities, but I never would have thought so many other people would be so interested in them. Last summer when I was working at the Santa Fe Opera, there would be tours during the days and sometimes after the performances, and people would be so fascinated to watch us do things that we considered pretty mundane. I guess it's the magic behind the performance that really draws people in, but I never would have thought it would be that popular.

This kind of opportunity is absolutely amazing, and I'm always thrilled to find out that big companies lie Cirque are putting backstage tours and such on, regardless of whether or not I can go myself. These events not only open up the world of theater to outsiders, but also give potential theater artists the opportunity to see what the professional world has to offer. I know that for me, one of the moments when I decided to pursue theater beyond high school was when I got to go on a backstage tour of the Metropolitan Opera in NYC; I like the idea that these types of tours are inspiring other kids out there.
