Al Gurdon's Lighting For Madonna MDNA

I love this one because I want to do concert shows after I graduate so it is always cool for me to be able to read about a lighting designer's process. There is always that curiosity of what is taken into consideration when handling shows that are such spectacles while staring famous individuals. The media, lighting, etc, needs to attract a lot of attention and wow the audience, but at the same time nothing can take attention away from the star onstage. Of course people are there ultimately for the music, but so much of the fun of a live show is the theatricality of it all. The challenge of balancing all the components is a fascination of mine.
I also liked that the article was specific about the actual equipment Gurdon used in the rigg because I am interested in lighting technology/programming/all that good stuff and seeing how the latest and greatest is used in the "real world" is something I believe I should be constantly aware of.
