What does an entertainment lawyer do? (Part I)

Law Offices of Gordon P. Firemark - Top Los Angeles Theatre & Film Entertainment Lawyer: Entertainment Lawyers, at the root of things, provide legal advice, counsel and representation to businesses and individuals in the entertainment industries, including the fields of theatre, television, film, music, publishing, and digital media. Within the field of enteratinment law, lawyers typically focus on one of two “sides”: Transactional or litigation. Many entertainment lawyers subspecialize, focusing their energies on the music business, or just film. Others are generalists, bringing a wide range of expertise to deals that increasingly span the various sub-industries.

The work of an entertainment lawyer is never done. They are solving problems or creating problems day in and day out, it's what they are paid to do. They have to sell themselves to stay in business, it's probably why the entertainment world is so tricky. there are so many guidelines and legal infringements because lawyers need something do when there's a problem, and even when there's not a problems. I understand to some degree what lawyers do, and that it is justified, but there are other days that I believe they should just stay away from the entertainment and stop messing it up.

I agree with Sam in the notion that they can be the cause of our problems, or the solution. But I like to think that lawyers, are here to protect our rights. And that just requires careful selection in whom you choose to do business with. Like any other relationship (be it business or personal), successful pursuits with a lawyer are founded on communication and trust, an understanding that there are shared values, priorities, and goals.
