You can find stuff everywhere. You can know people like the Mythbusters do, or you can just go searching. To find stuff you have to go looking, that's how one finds things. The Mythbusters are uber-connected because of their popularity and publicity, that's how they get the majority of their materials. This connection also gets them the tools that they need to handle these materials. Most people don't have these connections, so looking is one of you're best bets. Luckily, the internet exists and most people have either random stores or junkyards nearby to go exploring in. Stuff is everywhere. you just have to go looking for it.
