Well, just looking at the photographs and experiencing the movie, I know that this is an incredible work of art. Not only is this castle fairly realistic, it is symbolic for this generation. Constructing a castle like this, is so important for the fans of Harry Potter, it sets the entire story and has such an impact for Harry himself in the books. I can't even believe how much work went into this model but it paid off because it brought this world to life.

The other amazing part of this castle is the way that they were able to use it to film. Camera angle and the way a movie is shot is so important and this model was just an example as to how we can make something life size, even if it is a castle created out of the figments of JK Rowling's imagination. It also is the basis for finding an actual set for that movie crew to shoot and created an atmosphere for the actors to place their characters.

This is an extraordinary work of art! It's like the best dollhouse you could ever give to a kid. This belongs in a museum someplace where it can be finally seen and respected for the amount of work put into it. They were able to get such a variety of looks using this model, that really set the tone for the series. I'm interested by the point that just this model seems to have its own production designer. Combining that with the 86 artists necessary to complete it, this piece really puts into perspective the sheer amount of labor necessary to produce a movie like Harry Potter, let alone 8 movies in the series. I had always been under the impression that the castle was an actual structure living in Scotland or something, I can't believe that it's actually been in a black box on this weirdly tiny but at the same time towering scale.
