I was privileged to have seen him perform in "Driving Miss Daisy" and his performance was refreshing. He does deserve this award, he always gives credible performances and of course he was voice of Mufasa! He now joins the distinguished group of amazing actors who have been awarded the Paul Robeson Award. Additionally like the author of the article he did touch my heart with his singing and acting.

One of my college professors made sure I had a solid appreciation for Paul Robeson, so I have a lot of respect for not only what he accomplished, but also his great talent as a singer and actor and as a person. I think this award is a huge honor for anyone who receives it, and I am very glad that James Earl Jones is one of those people. I think he has not only been highly influential and successful, but is a great person, and I think that last point is one of the best traits to look for in people who receive this award.

It's wonderful to see people recognized for their contributions to humanity and art, especially in the form of having an award named after you. I feel that the recipients of namesake awards deserve the upmost respect, since they usually exhibit admirable personal qualities as well as incredible talent. They're more than just artists, they're well-rounded humanitarians. Congrats to James Earl Jones!
