City Theatre presents a moment when 'Time Stands Still'

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: City Theatre launches its 2011-12 season this week with "Time Stands Still," a drama that concentrates on the basics. "It's really about the actors, the words and the emotions," says Tracy Brigden, artistic director of City Theatre, who is directing the production that runs through Nov. 6. The drama debuted at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles in 2009. In 2010, it received a Tony nomination for best play after it opened on Broadway with Laura Linney and Brian d'Arcy James in the roles of Sarah and James.

The themes of this piece are very strong and a good challenge for any performer, as the article mentions. Any situation relating to war or post-war issues for an individual or individuals strikes home given recent (past ten years) events. I am glad it runs for a few more weeks because the piece has gartered national acclaim and this run will hopefully mean it can reach an extended audience.

This theatre's productions of "Time Stands Still" seems really impressive and something that I would love to see, especially after the awards talked about! The comment in the article about how audience members are transformed by their emotions is such a powerful statement to be made.
