Pittsburgh City Paper: "You gotta love a theater company that has a vagina painted in the women's bathroom. It's a bit off the wall.
Just like Off the Wall Productions.
They're the new kid in town, though they're tucked away in the old VFW building in downtown Washington. But if Off the Wall Productions keeps its standards and production values as high and solid as in Agnes of God, the first play of its third season, it will become a major theatrical force."

The first thing that came to mind when I read this article is "Why this play now?" Maybe it's because I've been hearing that question asked around Purnell a lot lately, but also, why is the material in this play relevant to our current economic and social situations?
The reasoning I came up with centered around the religious themes in the show. Not just the intensity of the material presented, but the way that they tweak it to make "fun" of the material. Having a large painting of the female genital on the bathroom wall is making a stab at the sanctity of a woman's purity. It's almost as if we shouldn't be taking everything that's going on in our lives right now so seriously. We should be able to take a step back, make a joke or ridiculous stab at these events, and have a good laugh.
Maybe not a laugh, but take a different approach to the way we usually think of things.
