The Curious Case of Lousiana Film Subsidies

This seems like a rather mixed idea. The obvious point is to help the economy of Lousiana however the work on these films is all from people out of state. The only local work would probably be something like catering which is nowhere near worth the 27 million dollars that the state is investing. In terms of the the artistic side, it is nice that a movie that takes place in Lousiana actually is filmed in Lousiana and not Canada. (I actually saw parts of the sets that were built in LA which corresponded to locations in the Mexican gulf). Anyway the effort to keep films being filmed in America is good for the industry as well as the economy on an extremely local level.
