Stage Preview: 'Wedding Singer' is a love song to 1980s, co-writer says

Post Gazette: "Ah, the '80s, an era caught up in the void between Woodstock and the onslaught of the Internet. Mobile phones, CDs and MTV were in their infancy, while America's oldest president, Ronald Reagan, was weighing in on such matters as the Berlin Wall and Iran-Contra."

i saw this show last summer and read the other review of the tour coming to pittsburgh and much prefer this review to that one. this one explains the foundation the musical was built on as well as the foundation the movie was built on.

I hate to see things get too caught up in kitsch. It doesn't do enough for me, and maybe that's because I'm not nostalgic for the eighties.

In addition, that mullet in the picture is out of control.

I agree with Laura that this musical might do much more for me if it was a time that I would be connected with. But that is beside the point. The article does make it more obvious why extactly they decided to make the movie into a musical show. But I don't think that is really going to change how people feel about it.
