Better Bass: Skip the Subwoofer, Hack Your Hearing?

Wired.com: "Should you be so fortunate as to hear the lowest lows and higest highs of Panda Bear's 'Good Girl/Carrots' on a seriously audiophiliac stereo system, give thanks to your cochlea, the sound-sensing section of mammalian ears."

This was kinda crazy. I don't know If I like the idea of modifying genes to let our kids hear more bass. The entire thing just reminded me of the wave radio, just in your head, or the original idea behind the Wall of Sound.

It is insane how this little spiral cord inside our head can turn sound waves into electrical signals. Tweaking the whole process? I don't know.. it is almost like getting x-ray vision but not quite haha.

It seems kind of ridiculous to want to modify genes just to hack how people can hear. Given that to hear such high or low frequencies you need to have something that can produce the sounds, would it really be worth it? I think people should just enjoy the sounds they are able to hear naturally
