Shocking Safety Commercials

Shoutwire.com: "A recent series of Workplace Safety Insurance Board commercials is airing in Canada. The aim is to raise awareness about workplace hazards, and to encourage employees to call out their bosses on safety issues. The first time I saw these commercials, I was pretty shocked. Considering that they air during prime time, I was doubly shocked."

I think that these commercials are appropriate for some audiences but not for all. If i was a kid and I saw that light bulb one i would probably get a phobia of changing light bulbs. Now on one hand that could be good but then there would be no electricians. These adds have thier place however should they have a rating? I've seen R rated horror movies less vulgar than those.

These commercials are pretty damn graphic. It is standard Scare Tactics they use in Driver's Education courses, but I wouldn't think that physical violence would be utilized in a commercial like this. I'm a little perturbed by all of these, but who is really going to dispute this? It's amazing how different violence is when in a comedic situation versus a rather serious one.

Holly crap. The kitchen one scared the crap out of me. I think they should do the trick, I know I'll think twice before I climb a latter over a glass table again. Really though I think the message needs to be heard and employers need to raise concern about such things.

WOW. These commercials will definitely drive home the message of workplace safety. Seeing such graphic events makes you think about how you go out doing everyday things. Similar to what Kevin was saying, humor is an interesting factor in these commercials. Yes, I was shocked and gasped when I saw the construction worker fall all those stories, but I also laughed when he literally bounced off a truck and onto the street and then bounced again. That seems a little extreme.

These commercials are certainly, certainly attention-getting. Commercials aren't rated... there is no way of telling the audience that something extremely graphic is about to happen.. I'm not sure these are entirely appropriate for all audiences. But they are effective... and stuff like this does happen.
