Local One Puts Marquis Strike on Hold for Fundraiser
BroadwayWorld Strike Coverage: "A statement has just been released by James J. Claffey, Jr. President of Local One, I.A.T.S.E., notifying union members that the strike will be paused for a day at the Marriott Marquis Theatre to honor a previously scheduled benefit."

This is a great publicity move on Local 1's part. Not only to agree to do the event but also to do it for free really makes the producers look bad and like they don't care. Also it's not like it costs the union anymore to work without pay than it does to picket without pay. I would guess that the members that are working this show are still being paid as if they were striking.
I was just about to say the same exact thing as Aaron. It's horrible to not look at the union helping charity as just that, but come on this is an amazing PR move. The union has continued to be slammed about how horrible they are because poor little Susie couldn't see the Grinch. Too bad this didn't make larger headlines, the union could really use some more support by the everyday people.
