I find it interesting that the entertainment strikes were mentioned along side "real" strikes in Paris. While both are causing economic problems, I'm not exactly sure they can be compared.
More interestingly was the mention of the news in this story. It seems like we've forgotten somewhat about the news. A lack of good news writing would definitely open up the eyes of the public to see the work that goes into it, that it's not as easy as just telling the facts. And its hard to believe that something like this hasn't happened sooner with... (was it CBS?) without contracts of any sort. I;m surprised that's still an issue.
But thank goodness NPR's staying out of it! Now that would be cause to panic!

It's interesting to hear that NY & LA isn't the only place where there's striking.

So a second WGA strike, the 11th (now 16th day of the strike).

And then in Paris the transportation workers are striking as well. And they disrupt everything from schools to plane travel. Costing wow - 300-400million Euros a day.

Then the rail strike in Germany 75million Euros.

These seem like they'd have a MUCH more immediate effect on the people around them, and yet here we are complaining in NYC that the tourists won't be able to see a show. It only holds worth because of the terrible hit on the economy. But strikes are always a mess. Let's hope it gets resolved soon....
