Carnegie Museum Celebrates 100 Years
New York Times: "Industrialist Andrew Carnegie wanted working-class people who couldn't afford trips around the globe to be able to see the world's architectural masterpieces. So 100 years ago, Carnegie built a large hall and brought a church's facade from France, intricately detailed doors from Italy, statuesque maidens from Greece, and dozens of other architectural masterpieces here. The casts were perfect reproductions, made of plaster."

its so nice to see an article not strike related. its also great that the museum and the city have been able to maintain such a vibrant community over the last 100 years... its a real compliment to the efforts made to improve and maintain the art scene as well as provide a vial education and ever growing passion for art.
I've lived in Pittsburgh all of my life and I can only remember going to the museum a handful of times. I have had the chance to attend more recently and I have to say the stuff in there is spectacular. It is a great piece of culture for the city of Pittsburgh.
They should seriously make like a huge sculpture of Andrew Carnegie in Pittsburgh. I mean he has done so much for this city. Well happy 100th to the Carnegie Museum.
