Calling Creative College Design Students!Design a Children's Playroom!
Craigslist: "Are you a college student studying interior design? Are you interested gaining additional design experience for your resume by working with a 'client' to understand the needs for the space, working with our family to create an original design, managing a budget, shopping for materials and supplies and working to transform your idea into the final product? We have a fun project for you in our Regent Square home!"

This would be fun, but I'd be wary of ads like this asking college students to do work for free because it is a "GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR A PORTFOLIO". People that don't want to spend a lot of money on projects like this should understand that they will most likely get what they pay for. Not to mention the last thing college students have time to do is rush around designing and painting a room for free. Besides, it looks better on a resume that you were actually paid for the position anyway.
It’s hard to find the line between good experience and a waste of your time and energy. When you are trying to gain experience it can be good to work for free, but there are some experiences that are better not to have. When entering an agreement like this you have to get all the facts upfront. You need to know exactly what the “client” wants from you and in what time frame. If the amount of valuable experience doesn’t out weigh the time investment don’t take the job. Are you a student or a slave?
