I had not heard that we were doing this.
I find the rapport that people have for the new works, especially the musicals, wonderful. We truly as a student body work to support them whether they be Dani Girl or Homemade Fusion. As Liz said, it's a great opportunity for the MTs as well as the school in general to forge these connections as well as develope the skills necessary to work on these New Works.
This is extremely exciting. New works are always such a great thing to be a part of - even just as an audience. It reminds you that new and exciting theatre is happening, and certainly renews my vigor and excitement in the theatre world. Last year's Dani Girl, of course being a prime example - it was one of the best and most exciting parts of the year for me. Seeing that level of talent creating such an amazing piece of work. I am thrilled for Alive at 10 and October 20 is a date I will be saving on my calendar. This kind of thing is not something you want to miss.
This is exciting. Big names coming to CMU is a nice thing (with the exception of Bill Gates) and yes, new works will be a welcome challenge and very true to life. It's also nice to see that they are new musicals. They bring a fun change to "new drama's" that usually are the only new works that schools see.
I am so excited that our school and some of our more well known alum are getting involved with working with new theatre. As previously said, some of the new works are the most exciting things that can be done for students. A prime example is the workshoped musical by the writers of Urinetown last year. For me new works in general are partially the reason why we get involved in theatre because theres such passion behind it.
