Julius and Ethel Rosenberg - The Brother

New York Times: "The play, which had its debut in August way-off Broadway at Theatre Building Chicago and runs through Nov. 18, is based on my nonfiction book of the same name about terminally dysfunctional family members and government officials in the Rosenberg atom-bomb spy case. In writing the book I considered myself a minor character, as merely the Observer or, at my most aggressive, the Interrogator."

I love that this article is written from the perspective of the reporter because its so interesting to hear his take on his involvement in the show. It must be odd to see someone else adapting your story and be able to speak with and work with the actor playing yourself. But at the same time, its so great for the director to have the actual man there to consult.
I really wish I could see this show. It sounds fascinating, especially since this reporter's connection with the case spans such a great amount of time.
It's also interesting that he never saw himself as a protagonist or someone really integral to the story. As an audience member, he seems to be one of the most important characters, and it seems natural for a reporter to be a main character as much as anyone else. But then in his eyes, he was only the observer. I wonder how much he understands the writer/director's choice now?
