Scene 1: Drinks and conversation
Theaters play host at trendy pre- and post-show receptions

Chicago Tribune: "Several theaters have grasped the problem of grab-and-gulp dining before a night at the theater -- and are stepping up with solutions. At pre- and post-show receptions, audience members can enjoy appetizers and wine as well as a little food for thought; the events often include a chance to mix and mingle with the artists involved in the play. The theater I volunteered at last summer had these kinds of events. Buffet-style dinner and a cash bar. I think the company got a lot out of it. Audiences got a chance to discuss the plays, mostly new works, with the actors and designers. One of the most interesting aspects was to see how the shows changed over the summer based on these conversations.

Also, "members only" articles = sadness. The Chicago Tribune is going to be sending me spam for the next ten years.
