Computer Applications - AutoCAD - Design Drawing B

CaddingAfterCrew (11:49:38 PM): Hey MissingDeadliestCatch, this is CaddingAfterCrew
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:49:49 PM): hi
CaddingAfterCrew (11:49:54 PM): I have a question for you about cad if you have a min.
CaddingAfterCrew (11:50:25 PM): for some reason my dimensions in will not update in paper space
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:50:27 PM): sup?
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:50:34 PM): where are they?
CaddingAfterCrew (11:50:40 PM): model space
CaddingAfterCrew (11:50:58 PM): I have the scale dimensions to layout button checked
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:52:27 PM): so when you are looking at the model tab (in the dark place) you see your dimensions?
CaddingAfterCrew (11:52:41 PM): yes
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:52:51 PM): and then when you are in the layout tab
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:53:01 PM): and you make a viewport active
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:53:06 PM): and you change the scale
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:53:12 PM): do the dimensions change
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:53:14 PM): ?
CaddingAfterCrew (11:53:27 PM): yes
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:54:03 PM): and then if you click the "update dimensions" button and select a dimension *nothing* changes?
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:54:23 PM): or just the text doesn't change?
CaddingAfterCrew (11:54:38 PM): nothing
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:54:41 PM): (there's a return key there too after you select the dimension)
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:55:10 PM): did you set the radio button before or after you drew the dimension?
CaddingAfterCrew (11:56:10 PM): I think i already had drawn some of them but not all
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:56:47 PM): well
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:56:53 PM): it sounds squirrelly
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:56:58 PM): and really I would have to see it
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:57:07 PM): but sometimes the order you do those things in matters
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:57:21 PM): it might clear up if you erase and redraw
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:57:41 PM): it might clear up if you define a new dimension style and do the "scale to layout" thing first
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:57:55 PM): it might clear up if you quit and relaunch the drawing
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:58:22 PM): but I never have this problem when I do the things I laid out for you in the order I laid them out for you
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:58:31 PM): unless I did something with the text style
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:58:47 PM): or if I accidentally drew the dimensions in paperspace
CaddingAfterCrew (11:58:57 PM): well I think the problem started when i set my text styles
CaddingAfterCrew (11:59:19 PM): I set up a secondary text style and I think thats when this started
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:59:21 PM): check in your text style
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:59:32 PM): and make sure that the text height is set to 0"
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:59:37 PM): in each style
MissingDeadliestCatch (11:59:50 PM): you set the height when you do the dtext or mtext command
MissingDeadliestCatch (12:00:07 AM): so setting it in the style menu just jams up your dimensions
CaddingAfterCrew (12:00:17 AM): o
CaddingAfterCrew (12:00:18 AM): cool
CaddingAfterCrew (12:00:29 AM): ill try that
CaddingAfterCrew (12:01:12 AM): that fixed it, thanks
MissingDeadliestCatch (12:01:18 AM): np
CaddingAfterCrew (12:02:02 AM): so does that mean that if you set the text height in the style control it overides everything else?
MissingDeadliestCatch (12:02:17 AM): I don't know about "everything"
MissingDeadliestCatch (12:02:25 AM): but I do know it jams up the dimension text
CaddingAfterCrew (12:02:39 AM): ok
CaddingAfterCrew (12:02:51 AM): thanks again good night
