Printing designs in 25-foot-high falling water

Boing Boing: "The Jeep Waterfall is a 25-foot-high sheet of falling water that can display arbitrary bitmaps in falling water, using a mechanism 'similar to an inkjet printer'"

This is an incredible effect. I'm sure it works just like a printer and can be programmed/processed just as easily. Nice fake rock enclosure too.
I wonder what kind of valves they used that can switch on and off so quickly.
