Panel Discussion

The College of Fine Arts Media Relations Office is hosting a a panel discussion on art and the media in Alumni Concert Hall Tuesday, January 30,
2007 at 11:30 a.m..

The goal of the discussion is to promote critical discourse that is both rigorous and accessible, educate faculty and students about the importance of public discourse on art and nurture connections between art and the public. The panel will include reporters and editors in the field of arts writing and criticism.

The panel discussion is designed to represent the disciplines; visual art, architecture, design, drama and music, the five schools that define the Carnegie Mellon College of Fine Arts. In this context the panel and guests will have an informed discussion about the importance of art criticism in media.

Panelists include:
Beth Broome, Associate Editor, Architectural Record Andrew Druckenbrod, Classical Music Critic, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Scott Holleran, writer, Box Office Mojo, online publication Julie Lasky, Editor-in-Chief, ID Magazine Kurt Shaw, Art Critic for Pittsburgh Tribune Review
