“I answer an e-mail once every 6.66 minutes”

43 Folders: "Woo hoo. Re: An appendix to the principles of Jewish Buddhism. Saying hi. Re: Hey pal. Burnout. WHEN are we eating? Open Enrollment Info. Quick q. Arrrrrrrrrrgh.
You are looking at nine e-mail subject lines I received in a one-hour period last week. It was then that I realized I answer an e-mail once every 6.66 minutes. The very thought of committing this fact to paper has kept me crippled for several seconds. It doesn’t seem like the sort of thing my boss should know."

This is ridiculous....but sadly true. I find it unbelievable quickly we have let electronics consume our lives. I know that some days when I come home to check email between classes, I will have over ten new pieces of mail from within the hour. And this is why we feel the need to check our mail this frequently...because we get so much.
However, half of this mail is hardly worth reading. Between chain mail, and my favorite lost and found emails I don't know what to do with myself.
Then we have cell phones and instant messanger which are even more of a pain, yet somehow still quite addictive.
Some people even get to the point where they bring their cell phones into the bathroom with them.
Honestly some things are meant to stay private, ya know?
Anyways, I think it would be a good test for everyone to spend a week without these devices, or even a day at least. I'm pretty sure it would be a very cleansing activity for us all.

Electronical Mail, or aka, e-mail is one sign of new upcoming generation, and new way of communication. It is true what Katie said about spam mail, or aka Jennifer Chapman's "Some actor lost a cell-phone, coat, or books." It's really sad to think how much less face-to-face communication we have now, because of e-mail.
