Music Preview: 'Don Quixote' with strings attached

Post Gazette: "Just like Don Quixote's confused viewpoint, these works are not what they seem. The cello plays such a prominent role in Strauss' work that a soloist commonly performs it as a sort of cello concerto (this weekend brings cellist Ralph Kirshbaum). And Falla's piece is actually a puppet show about a puppet show that occurs in 'Don Quixote.'"

I think I would have to see this before I could have a real opinion on it. My first though when I read there would be a performance of Don Quixote with puppets was "NO!" But then I read on and it didn't soudn as bad. I still don't know if this type of performance would be as effective or even as clear as a more traditional one. Even if the whole show was a regular puppet show it would seem more understandable. The idea of making a whole puppet show on one scene of the story of Don Quixote that happens to be another puppet show is honestly a little confusing. Especially since the show is targeted toward all audiences.
