A director's hand is more felt than seen

baltimoresun.com: "Performers, designers - their work is on display for all to see and praise. But a theater director writes in invisible ink. If she's lucky, theatergoers meeting her will say something vague, such as that they enjoyed the show."

I feel like this reporter just ruined the fun of the show to me. I am tired of analysing costumes, light, sound, sets...I now resorted to entertaining myself with what the director was thinking when he/she staged their production. But this reporter just told me the little secrets! Sometimes, I think that reporters think they have something original or brilliant to report about a show simply because they have never thought about it (and in reality, I bet no one else has either). BUT STILL. This sort of takes away the thinking about the piece. If you don't marvel at the production and the members involved, what do you do? Look at a pretty picture. Thats about it.
