William H. Macy Recalls His Start in Chicago Theater

Variety: The versatile William H. Macy has an impressive list of credits as an actor, writer, director and producer. Now, Emmy-nominated for his role as Frank Gallagher — possibly the worst father on TV — in Showtime’s Chicago-set “Shameless,” his career has come full circle, at least from a logistical point of view. It was during his days producing plays in the Windy City back in the ’70s that he earned his first mention in Variety.
