Stage sisterhood: Women in Seattle are running the show

Seattle Times Newspaper: "You may not know it, but a quiet revolution (or is it an evolution?) has been unfolding in Seattle theater. On stages and in rehearsal halls, more and more women directors are running the show — and, in many cases, the theater too.

Theater needs more estrogen. PTM needs more estrogen. America needs more estrogen.
There have been a couple of posts this past year about how theater is no longer a white man's world (or signs show that it doesn't have to be.) Great to see that theater doesn't even have to be a man's world. To be purposefully very political America is still way behind when it comes to how women are treated and respected. You can see this reflected in many different places, theater especially. What's great about this article is that the theater community in Seatle is very welcoming to women directors. A healthy theater community wants to see great art regardless of the gender of the director but few ask the question why are there so many men working in theater as opposed to women. While the Seatle theater community doesn't neccesarily answer this question or even directly ask it it shows that great art and great work can be done by women as well as men. There's a lot to be learned here.
