I'd love this show to stay on Broadway as long as possible. I doubted the actual quality of a show based off a disney movie at first. Now i love disney movies, but i've seen beauty and the beast and to me it was just something cute and fluffy. When i saw the Lion King i was just blown away. The story was really beautifully expanded and the technology and costumes were just astounding. To this day the costume design for this show has been my favorite of any play i've seen. I hope this show stays celebrated for many more years.

Lion King is one of the most favorite musical for me. I agree that producer's saying "The Lion King has become an international hit with productions playing all around the globe". Although I did not see broadway Lion king, in Korea I saw Korean Lion King 3 times and Janpanese Lion King from 'saki' which is famous production 1 time. Usually for childern musical is not good but I think this well made musical for children and audult should be long time running show.

Although I haven't seen this show, everyone I know that has seen it has said it's a must-see. I suppose that the run of Broadway shows should be indicative of their quality and artistic impact, but I don't think this is often the case. In this particular case, I would argue that it really is well done and it has made an impact on Broadway and on tour. It's interesting to see the generational reactions to this show having such a long run and seeing Phantom finally close.

i absolutely love this show! it is good in every aspect. It's visually brilliant with the scenic and costumes. The music is astounding. Its hard to have a favorite part, but my favorite technical moment of the show is the stampede in act 1. I agree that this show is a must see and i would like it to stay for as long as possible.

I am extremely happy to hear this. I love the production of the Lion King. I have seen the show three times: twice on Broadway and the tour cast once. I love the production and can easily see why it has run for so long and is still a popular show to this day. The interactive nature of the show with the animals walking down the aisle at the beginning and the African chorus breaking the forth wall and singing directly to the audience in the beginning of the second act pulls the audience in the world that is so distinctly different. The overall feeling of the shown embodies the feeling of Africa. But more importantly I like the way the animals are integrated into the show. The unique costume design of the characters make the audience truly suspend their belief during the show. I can only hope that this show continues its run for years to come.

I am glad that Lion King has been given such a great response on Broadway. It really does have everything a show needs to be successful in that forum.
First, it is a story that everyone knows. Therefore, there is not the barrier of not understanding the story. When you go in already knowing what is going to happen, it matters even more how that content is delivered.
Second, the production accepts the most widely accepted version of the story (the Disney movie) and adapts it while remaining true to what made it great.
Finally, all of the elements work fantastically well together in order to tell the story. The vocals are beautiful and original, the visual world created is amazing, and the ability of the production to involve the audience makes this a show that will be around for a while!

I have not seen this show but like Naomi have heard that it is a must see. In the past I have not wanted to see disney movies turned musicals and still to this day wish that there weren't so many things with fluff on broadway. I want more substance.
On the other hand, the costumes and set are beautiful and this show has had such a great impact on theatergoers as well as people that would probably never go to the theatre so that is a good thing. Hopefully those people will keep coming back.
