It breaks my heart that the first time I am hearing about the design initiative is when I am finding out it has been suspended. A program by one of the largest IATSE locals meant to train new artists sounds incredible and although the reason that the program was suspended makes sense logistically as an aspiring artist and technician it breaks my heart that the ADG is discouraging the training of new members. I had someone i know tell me that they were once told that if you can do anything besides theater to do that instead and I love my career and what I study and have 0 intention of switching careers I would be lying if I said i was not a little concerned with how the industry and hiring in the industry has gone in recent years. I truly hope that the hiring trends turnaround in the coming years and i am truly looking forward to having a career in this industry.
