Wireless Safety System Can Cut Costs and Protect Workers

Occupational Health & Safety: Over the decades, safety showers and eye baths have become a common, if seldom used, fixture in the industrial landscape. As a result, very few operators of laboratories or industrial plants seem to pay much attention to them. In fact, the vast majority of safety stations are not alarmed or monitored.

First of all, it blows my mind that these safety devices aren't alarmed. Odds are, if someone is using one of these, they're going to need some kind of further medical attention, even if it is the paramedics just checking them out in the parking lot of your facility. As they wrote in the article, installing wired alarm systems can be costly so wireless systems actually solve that problem pretty well, I would assume. In an emergency situation, the best thing you can do is inform the people working around the victim, therefore alerting them if they are about to put themselves in the same situation. With an alarm system, you can alert everyone to their surroundings so you don't have multiple casualties. Especially when it comes down to regulations with things like how long you're supposed to be in the safety shower, these sensors can mean the difference between receiving the proper immediate care and not. One thing I will say though, is that the title is confusing. It makes it sound like the eyewash station is in itself portable, which would be impossible.
