Pollstar: The Las Vegas show premiered Wednesday at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino and tells the story of a family duck-call business that led to reality show juggernaut “Duck Dynasty.”
The 90-minute show with Broadway backers and bonafides, including the company behind “Jersey Boys,” alternates between something akin to a live-action commercial celebrating the family business to a mostly cheery singing and dancing scrapbook of their tight-knit journey.

This is ridiculous. This is why people don't take musicals seriously. They see people like the Duck Dynasty clan, who aren't regarded as the smartest people on the block, and see them create a musical which is probably only okay. Also, how much of this musical did they actually write? Were they really even involved in the process? Yes, the characters in the show are based on the characters on the TV program, but is that enough to create an entire musical? Apparently it is. I'm all for people living out their lives as characters, but I think this is going too far. I also think that they should have dealt with the controversy over Phil's insulting comments. That would give the show some substance and perhaps satisfy the media. I'm not saying that all shows have to change the world, but this one is just ridiculous. Why did they make the musical in the first place? This is a big undertaking for something seems like one big money-sucking joke musical.
